Stephen Curtin
Clontarf Therapy
Stephen has a background in healthcare in hospital settings and psychology. He is interested in patterns we engage in, that can become deeply rooted in and sometimes can feel ‘stuck’ in ones life. He is fully qualified and accredited. He is also Registered with the NMBI.
He favours exploring the often unconscious meanings of these patterns that we play out in life, through the discussion of relationships, dreams, language and other areas as helpful in bringing issues to the surface especially in self-defeating behaviours that are often resistant to change.
A keen advocate of a cooperative partnership with each client through empathy, connection, humour and compassion, Stephen aims to build a picture of each client as a unique individual and to arrive at what each issue means specifically to the client rather than a theory.
Stephen is also a clinical facilitator for a Social Anxiety Group. He is interested and works with a variety but not limited to issues including:
Compulsive Behaviour, Bodily issues, trauma, family dynamics,
shame, panic attacks, loss, addiction, neglect, bullying, anxiety,
emotional dysregulation, Social Anxiety, identity and desire.
Stephen has a Bachelors degree, a Higher Diploma in Psychology, An M.Phil in Psychoanalytic Studies, An M.Sc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and A clinical Diploma in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy From Trinity College and the Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. He is currently pursuing a Program of continuing Studies with the Freud Lacan Institute.
