Lucy Watters

Clontarf Therapy

I am a qualified, Pre-Accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), working in North Dublin. I have worked with clients who have a diverse range of mental health challenges and issues. I have  a special interest and expertise in working with issues around anxiety, depression, gender identity, self-esteem, sexuality, domestic violence, stress, suicide and trauma.

I hold  an Honours Master of Science (MSc) in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. I also holds a Professional Certificate in the Trauma informed care, Certificate in Sexual Health and also a cert in Suicide Prevention. I am trained in many approaches to therapy such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Inner Child Work, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBI), Person Centred Therapy, Psychoanalysis and Transactional Analysis.

I work from a Pluralistic perspective meaning that  my therapeutic philosophy is that no one way of therapy can work for all people all of the time. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their challenges, what they want from therapy and decide which therapy approach would suit best. I work to foster a therapeutic relationship that is safe, collaborative and non-judgemental which provides the foundation for working together. I work with clients to identify skills that already exist so that they can better overcome problems that they are experiencing in their lives.
